WOOD STORKS

The wood stork population of southeastern United States at one time was reportedly over 150,000. In the early 1990s, it has declined to not much over 10,000. Destruction of the habitat and disruption of water flow through southern Florida are said to be major causes of their decline.

THE ICELANDIC HORSE

Brought to Iceland by the Vikings in the 9th and 10th centuries, the Icelandic Horse is one of the oldest horse breeds in the world. Although small, they are strong, sturdy, and full of character.

SUNSET AT BOMBAY HOOK

I went to Bombay Hook looking to photograph birds without much success. They simply were not there. A nice surprise; however, was a spectacular sunset which developed as I was just about to leave. I quickly changed the lens on my camera from my telephoto to a wide angle, just in time to capture this amazing scene. Lucky me:)
