I took another trip to West Virginia last weekend. It was a long day, but not very successful photographically. I was about 40 minutes late getting to Dolly Sods which was the main objective of my trip. Completely missed the civil twilight which is when I prefer to photograph. Just barely caught the sunrise, but it was extremely bright and I wasn't happy with the images I was producing. I was very bummed considering I got up a 3 am and drove a little over 3 hours to get there... Before heading back home, I stopped by Blackwater Falls State Park and Elakala Falls where I did a little bit of hiking and exploring.
Elakala Falls located in Blackwater Falls State Park near Davis, West Virginia
There are spots of color in the park but probably another week or two before the peak foliage, as can be seen in the shot below I took at Lindy Point.
